Glad I bought my PS3 over an HD-DVD player.

Oh yeah.

I've been in the Blu-Ray camp for about a year now. Got maybe 15 titles so far. Still holding off on declaring BRD the winning format in the HD wars, but this is certainly another nail in HD DVD's coffin.

Actually it's the end, since Toshiba was the Technology manufacturer/license granter when Warner jumped ship at CES last month it was the end they just hadn't fallen down yet.

This honestly was the news I was waiting for to consider a new HD format player of any type. the other big factor I saw was that while the XBox camp was allowing the addition of an HD-DVD enabled drive you never once heard them talking about making it the defacto drive choice for the next round of XBoxes.

Nice to SONY actually learned from the BetaMax Debacle of the 1980's. At times to be honest it was hard to guess they had.

For those of you that dont own a ps3 with plans to buy a bluray player, you might wanna hold off alittle bit more. The 2.0 version will allow discs (through players) to recieve downloadable content. More shit for special features, etc...

Personally, I dont ever look at that crap.. so its useless for me.. but I own a ps3 which will be fine due to firmware updates. However, old stand alone players ( v1, v1.1 etc..) will not have access to those features.

It's a shame. Now we have a media format with license fees and licensing restrictions. GG humanity. You lost. Everyone give your gun a blowjob...now.

They didn't learn a thing. This is the exact same scenario, with dumber consumers.

This blows, I hate Sony and I hate Blu Ray. Oh well excuse to buy a PS3 though I suppose.
