It can go either way really. I had friends whos parents beat them badly when theyd fuck up. Id say it was 50/50. Some wouldnt fuckup again, while others just didnt give a shit.

Setting a decent example works the best imo. beating doesn't do much, but time out certainly doesn't either.

Both my sister and I learned early on not to do stuff that would make mom angry....
And we both turned out just fine.

And honestly, in the 3rd grade, I'm don't think I really understood the meaning of the words plot/conspiracy. Kids are getting smarter these days.

I was raised by the belt. My father had the strength of an Ox, and a temper equally formidable. When ever he was around I didn't dare act up, or leave a mess. I didn't grow up scarred either. In fact, it was the other kids I knew, the ones with the super lenient parents, that ended up spiraling downhill.

Besides getting beat makes you tougher. I don't want to raise a bunch a sissies.

If I can take out 39 five year olds, I think I could handle 9 8-9 year olds. Even one with a broken steak knife, course I'd have to neutralize him/her first.

EDIT: So, basically what I'm saying to any would be 3rd grade conspirators is BRING IT ON BITCHES

My Freshman year of High School my class made our Spanish teacher quit.

He left a high paying job at the casinos to help children of my generation understand other's cultures. I suppose the joke was on him.

Now I know 3rd grade and Freshman have a bit of a range age difference, but the morale of my story is that kids are vicious vicious little beings and you should never put anything past them.
