Ohhh boy... this one...
Remember the "Monica Bang" episode of Friends? I lived that.
Right after we got married, my husband and I were watching my nieces and nephew one night while the inlaws went out on a date. The nephew was 2 or 3 - not talking much yet, but running around. He liked being tossed. We were in the basement goofing around & my husband was tossing him. Wee!
I picked him up a second later and did the same thing. I didn't look where I was standing (under an air duct) and SMACK! Right into the ceiling. That kid has the flattest head ever on top, which probably saved him from a huge lump, but it was popcorn ceiling and it
stuck in his head. We had to scrape it out of his hair and off his head while the nieces were rolling around on the floor laughing themselves to tears. The rest of the night I was walking around horrified that I was going to have to tell his parents I smacked him into the ceiling. There was no getting out of it - the two nieces couldn't WAIT to tell them. It was the high point of their night!
I didn't know at the time that, this being their third kid, they weren't too easily phased. The nephew was back to normal in a few minutes and never held a grudge. He grew up ok. lol Thank god.
