Random ass ideas are called hypotheses.

I don't think that living in fear of some minute chance of absolute cataclysm should stand in the way of scientific progress. What's the worst that could happen? All life on the planet could end, big deal, it's not like that really causes any major inconvence to *you*, you wouldn't even know what happened. On the other hand, with the advent of materials that bring the microcosm into the macrocosm, such as graphene, I think that particle physics is going to be a very important tool to have at our disposal. The discovery of the higgs is a major step in the right direction, and will lend validity to a lot of progressive thought.

A friend of a friend, who works at a museum, told me that the Earth is the center of the universe.

True story.

Consider this: if you were killed tomorrow by a stampede of cows all this hysteria would be moot. Moooooot.

But its just a theory! The same way gravity is a theory. I mean, what if Einstein was wrong? We could go floating off into space at any moment!

Forseriously.

You suck this guys dick or something?

I mean...he has that persuasive argument about the Moon and the Earth and the Sun and all that. I mean after that I bought into the gravity as a theory bit too!

Despite the publicity generated by the 2012 date, Susan Milbrath, curator of Latin American Art and Archaeology at the Florida Museum of Natural History, stated that "We [the archaeological community] have no record or knowledge that [the Maya] would think the world would come to an end" in 2012.

"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies, Inc. in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in.
---

Maya stelae occasionally show dates beyond 2012. Most of these are in the form of "distance dates", where a Long Count date is given with a distance date to be added. For example, on the Tablet of Inscriptions from Palenque the following Long Count date was found: 9.8.9.13.0 8 Ahau 13 Pop (24 March 603 Gregorian) with a distance date of 10.11.10.5.8. The resulting date is given as 1.0.0.0.0.8 5 Lamat 1 Mol, or 21 October 4772 – almost 3,000 years into the future. The king Pacal of Palenque predicted that on this date the eightieth Calendar Round anniversary of his accession will be celebrated, suggesting he did not believe the world would end in 2012.
---

So im confused. they said the world will end.. or wait.. they said it wouldnt end... WHAT IS THE REAL ANSWER.!?!?

Ps, if the world does end, I'll be the first to apologize and give you hugs. But until then,
