Nah, people have always been, and always will be fucked in small doses. Mass media just shows us all of them now whereas 10 years ago you'd have been lucky to hear about this fuckstick. Just like the Dungeons and Dragons debacle of the late 70's early 80's, Reverend Jim Jones, et al. - No matter how docile or humble something seems and is partaken of by some, a fucking nutbag zealot will make it seem like it's the most evil thing since the Marquis de Sade.

Bad news sells, good news doesn't. If you watch any typical news program, turn on CNN, or go online for your news, 95% of it is bad news. People being killed, people doing insanely stupid shit, people being people...

Holy shit!! I'm glad I don't meet dumbasses like that very often. What a nutjob. I would have her committed for her own safety and the safety of her family. She is obviously insane and I wouldn't be suprised to hear on the news that she killed her family and herself to "protect" them from "darksided" influences.

It’s not surprising. Then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment, as a way to explain their frustrations.

Actually I read some time ago, maybe last year, that one of the daughters was killed in a car crash =/

The mother is nuts, as are all religious people imo.

I agree that some of them lack willpower. Some people give up one addiction for another. I think religious zealotry is just as dangerous as an alcoholic or a drug user in a psychological sense. A religious zealot may not run you over in their car or hold you up a gunpoint for a fix, but they are nutty as squirrel shit anyways.
