Does Admiting this make me Honest or just Stupid?
Taken from Vgrangers.com
This was my entry into a contest. the question was what was your most memorable experience in an MMO. Well I just HAD to be honest =o

Alright Well! lets not sugar coat it. My best MMO memory was getting Banned from EQ1. Seriously EQ1 was a great game but around The Dragons of Norath Xpac I just felt really burned out but there was no way I was going to quit the game and leave my guild mates high and dry.
So I stayed at it, then one day A buddy of mine (who pretty much felt the same way) introduced me to macroquest2 and soon enough I was testing out Plug ins for them. I knew it wasn't a good thing but instance after instance of the same cut and paste B.S that EQ1, in my opinion, has become just burned me out to the point that using those programs was better then the game itself.
anyway we used it for all sorts of things. We had a nifty lag manipulator that was used to warp anywhere in a zone without danger of agro. that turned into a program called Ghost. it used a series of warps back and forth to make you appear you were in one location but actually in another and it could be used to kill monsters with as long as your DPS was greater then the mob's regeneration.
Next we had a equip any item bug. no need to explain what that one did right? so get this, there was a bow that dropped in one of the GoD trials, it was no race so un-equipable but with 100-150 damage, also there was a matching arrow with 100ish damage.. well guess what...they became equipable.
So with those equipped and the ghost program in tow bam myself and 2 other ranger alts trioed king Gelquinios (sp?) in riftseekers sanctum.
Now we move on to the last major one. Do you Remember when they changed no-Drop to No-Trade? That was partly due to us! it was like this you put a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag the last bag had no-drop items in it. all the server saw was a bag in a bag being traded. most of these bugs were found out due to mass use of them though, becuase some one ripped off the program and mass distributed them cheaply.
The ironic thing is I was not Banned for killing raid mobs or trading no drop items. I was Banned for 'warping' in plane of water. which I was but the way warps work is through lag manipulation, it literally just looks like the player is lagging..I was banned for lagging =p
This is my best memory because it was the most important.
I regret getting banned and doing what I did But I feel it was important because if I didn't do it I would probably still be playing EQ1 today and im glade I moved on from a game that's really, in my opinion, gone down hill.
Also, I've learned that it really wasn't worth it and that cheating like that is definitely wrong and something I will not tolerate anyone in my guild doing in now and in the future. Not like I wont recognize it when I see it. /nod
Well, this probably isn't the best memory to share for a contest to win a beta invite. But hey Gotta be honest with myself. Won't lie and go off with some ranger generic "I got the bow of supreme darkness that day" speech.
take it easy peeps. /FLEEEE
