The confederate Flag is not a symbol of Slavery its a symbol of rebelion and your pretty fucking ignorant if you think the War between states was all about slavery. Yes slavery was a big factor but the purpose of the war was to assert States rights over Federal Rights, Technically the war would of been completely illegal if some farmers didn't attack that fort in north Carolina thinking they should leave. But that served as a good excuse to go to war and preserve the Union, which IMO was good in the long run.

As for Slavery though it would of been abolished eventually regardless of a war the same way it was abolished in England. People become educated and society as a whole decide keeping slaves isn't right.

FURTHERMORE Morara, Yankees are more like Nazi's then a confederate will ever be. If the north had lost the war and we remained separated its a STRONG possibility the north would of sided with the Germans as the majority of northerners at that time had German heritage if not actually being 1st generation immigrants from Germany.

Also the comparison is lacking because Nazi's are fascists. so how was that again? The north Favored a stronger Central government to control everything and the south favored greater states rights and smaller central government? Which one of those views leans more to fascism?

This is seriously ridiculous. Aside from the fact that a) because you were of German descent doesn't mean you were a Nazi, or even a Nazi sympathizer, and b) many Germans emigrated prior to America entering the war to escape Nazism, the majority of the population of the northern states were not of German descent.

Of the population that were, very few were sympathetic to the Nazi cause. Even those that were recognized the fact that America would never enter the war on the Axis side and focused their attention on keeping us out of the war by attempting to influence the political climate of the time.

No, what is more factually accurate is that most German-Americans at the time vehemently opposed Nazism. Most volunteered to fight it. And some were key figures in the ultimate defeat of the Axis (Dwight Eisenhower, Chester Nimitz).

Also, historically speaking, the northern states have been far more liberal in their political ideals than the southern states. I think what Morara is stating is that the idealism behind slavery has more in common with the idealism behind the Nazi pursecution of certain ethnic groups, based solely on race. That being said, let's not forget northerners were slaveholders too. No one was without blame, but you're paragraph above is just retarded and your argument holds no water.

and omg, Israphil i dont know if your a chick or a dude, but I as a chick didnt even take the time to notice the flag been up on one pic and down on another... and trust me i notice things, like for example yesterday my bf and i went to the employment bureau and the guy that walked by was totally gay (nothing against gays) but he had his eyebrows done, light lipgloss and swing his hips, and when we left i asked my bf if he noticed and he's like wow chicks notice the weirdest things (( once again nothing against gays )) but back to topic
