Maybe he's a flip-flopper.

"I decided I won't wear that pin on my chest," he said in the interview. "Instead, I'm going to try to tell the American people what I believe will make this country great, and hopefully that will be a testament to my patriotism." - B.H. Obama

But it's a much bigger one for Obama. McCain has a 30+ year public history to fall back on and if Huffpost thinks telling people how much John hates Bush actually hurts him well LoL. Obama on the other hand is built on the premise of his 2004 convention speech. The proper focus on that considering everything we now know about his church and other associations could completely undermine that and leave the public image with what he really is, a mediocre politician who happens to be damn good at giving speeches. Obama himself has given the right so much real ammo that it's truly painful listening to yet another tired rant about "Barrack Hussein Osama" being a muslim sleeper.

Edit: He's wearing it because it was a gift from a vet. Whether it was staged or not is up for debate but can't knock him on that. Also, the quote omits him calling it a substitute for patriotism.

And this matters, in what way?

Just pointing out they both have an aversion to the flag. Take it however you like.

Not the king but certainly no stranger to it. His only saving grace is that he's terrible at it. He should never lie because it looks so painful for him and everyone can see it. Even worse, he has a knack for coming back later and calling himself a dumbass for doing it.

Kerry wasn't a flip-flopper, you just never understood his position because he over-nuanced everything.
