How much of what Hogan has said is confirmed and how much is hearsay?

In the UK, passengers are responsible for "buckling" themselves up (if over the age of 16 iic), not the driver, the passenger gets the ticket and fine, not the driver.

Definately seems unreasonable to me.

Not anymore actually. Driver is responsible for the front seat passenger.

How is it unreasonable? You are responsible for the safety of the passengers of your vehicle while you're driving.

Who's in control of this deadly weapon? (Vehicles are considered deadly weapons) Surely the passengers have no control over it. The driver is in control, therefore he/she is responsible for anyone occupying that vehicle.

PS - The fine is only for ppl in the front seat, not the back. Why? I have no idea....I think it should be for everyone in the vehicle.

Also, I think I saw someone say that NOT wearing seatbelts is the reason someone lived thru a crash. You're right, there are times where NOT wearing it could save your life. However, I GUARANTEE if you look at the figures, the difference between wearing/not wearing a seatbelt, there would be a 99%+ of where wearing it saved the life, rather than killing them.

PPS - There's SO many pics of this accident thru that link earlier in the thread, but i saw a pic of a ripped seatbelt somewhere in there. Was a guy's hands (with gloves on) holding the 2 pieces side-by-side. Maybe it broke? /shrug

I'm proud to say a seatbelt saved my life when I was 17. Some drunk driver on superbowl sunday ran a red light and hit the side of my dad's explorer going about 70mph. The car spun around and flipped. I suffered a small head injury and got out of the car and walked away.

It's all confirmed, there's a rather lengthy audio clip circulating the internet.

Seems like it's 50/50 in high-speed wrecks on whether or not a seat belt helps or hinders. My friend was in a horrible accident and was only saved because he was thrown from the vehicle.

Kinda like this guy.

Are you going to babysit every single person in the car to make sure they're buckled every single minute of the drive, to also make sure they don't fuck you over if a cop car comes, when they are perfectly able to accept consequences for their own actions? It's flawed, it's moronic.

Don't let any stupid assholes in your car and you won't have any problems.

Niber, like I said before, I understand that there are certain instances where NOT wearing the seatbelt could actually be the lifesaver. However, 99% of the cases you DON'T wanna be thrown from the vehicle. Instead, you wanna be secured inside that vehicle, (That has been crash tested over and over and over for this exact reason) protected from outside dangers.

There's no way that it's a 50/50 for high speed wrecks....or any other wrecks for that matter. I'm kinda busy at work today or I'd find some facts and figures proving my point. But I can say without a doubt that, at the VERY least, 95% of the time, the seatbelt should've been worn.

QFMFT

If you have friends/family members that require you to "Babysit" them while they're in your car, don't let the stupid fucks in your car, cuz you're responsible.
