How is it unreasonable? You are responsible for the safety of the passengers of your vehicle while you're driving.
Who's in control of this deadly weapon? (Vehicles are considered deadly weapons) Surely the passengers have no control over it. The driver is in control, therefore he/she is responsible for anyone occupying that vehicle.
PS - The fine is only for ppl in the front seat, not the back. Why? I have no idea....I think it should be for everyone in the vehicle.
Also, I think I saw someone say that NOT wearing seatbelts is the reason someone lived thru a crash. You're right, there are times where NOT wearing it could save your life. However, I GUARANTEE if you look at the figures, the difference between wearing/not wearing a seatbelt, there would be a 99%+ of where wearing it saved the life, rather than killing them.
PPS - There's SO many pics of this accident thru that link earlier in the thread, but i saw a pic of a ripped seatbelt somewhere in there. Was a guy's hands (with gloves on) holding the 2 pieces side-by-side. Maybe it broke? /shrug
