You can ride here in Ohio without a helmet too, as long as you have your license, and not just a permit. Does that make it right? FUCK NO!! Helmet on a streetbike should be mandatory. A friend of mine just died last week on his bike. Hit some cinders left over from the winter on the interstate. If he woulda been wearing a helmet, he wouldnt be dead...
I seriously recommend anyone who rides streetbikes, or knows anyone who does, fucking yell at them, or at yourself if you don't.
I just got done calling everyone I know who rides, along with reminding myself, to wear a helmet at all times.

My brother had a rock flung up at him from a vehicle in front of him, hit his visor, it scared the crap out of him, another hit his knuckles, he was wearing gloves, but as hilarious as it was I couldn't imagine had he not been wearing the helmet...

I used to ride. You just keep riding. It if it a serious issue you try to compose yourself long enough to pull over, otherwise you become a highway pancake.
I far more hated/fears clouds of bugs (yes, clouds).  |

Idaho is a helmet free state as well. I wouldn't dare ride without a helmet, even if it's just on the dirt roads on the mountains behind my house. (I ride a dual sport) I'm confident in my abilities, but I'm always scared of the other people on the road.
