DVD RW burner doesn't work ?

Any suggestions on how to fix this ..
It was working, alot recently .. then just today it stopped.
It reads DVDs, CDs, CD-Rs, but no DVD-RW anymore (and they work, tried them on my dvd player)
It just reads them as a "Blank CD" and boots it up as if to burn, but reads as 0MB there .. so it knows its blank because it thinks its nothing I guess, tried new drivers/firmware etc. Was about to burn some patches for a friend :|

Well, it reads an already burned DVD+RW as what it is, lets me watch it etc (burned on this PC prior) so I erased it, and its now stuck in the same as above, 0 bytes =\

Unfortunately this is usually the sign that your burner is starting to cave. I had the same issues with my old NEC drive and no matter what i did it simply could not read certain discs. In my case it was something to do with the laser coming out of alignment so while some discs worked others didn't cause the ToC was in an area that couldn't be reached.
You can try to use cleaning disc but i doubt it will do much good.

Burners are pretty cheap now but its still a PitA to have to buy a new one.

its a Sony, uh .. 530A or something.
It still burns CD-Rs tho, its weird.
Might try can of air on it sometime to see if that helps.
