Ok I got this thing today and it works but it's so static. Am I suppose to go to a static channel like the book said or find one with nothing playing at all? I used the suggested stations and one of them were good the others were actual stations.

Well, you can find a static station or just one with nothing, sometimes it will just override a station. I usually use like 88.1 or 107.9, but I'm sure it's different where you are.

Can you chose the most popular station in your area then drive around town forcing others to listen to your music?

It said to use 107.9 for where I live but it's a real station. Also I found a static one but the songs come out static. Do I just need to keep looking for one?

Does it matter where I position the device/mp3 player?

station doesn't have to have static for it to work, if it's a good one they allow you to tune to any place on the dial... should have a digital readout. If it just has a four position switch of some type those are very limited. Also it CAN affect where you place the device, but typically it's the transmitter unit that does the work. However if your antenna is crap or the ground isn't any good the reception will be sketchy at best.
