All good points, nothing to add. Go back and note the date of the Magic Negro bit. Also, listen to it and tell me what you think, both of the song and his reaction:
(note: the intro was added by the poster as was the vid. There was also a lot more during that particular show that should color what the song was about)
Ah, I didn't even notice it was a year ago. Personally, I thought it was hilarious, but I'm not that big a fan of Sharpton. I do see now what you meant by him changing his position now that he's the nominee.
While we're on this issue, the only thing that bothers me is that so many black people think that Obama being elected will somehow bring about another Emancipation Proclamation. So many friends, and family think that when he takes office all the issues weighing black people down will somehow be lifted. Like a player joining the NBA and buying his family a new house and car.
I'm sure a few things will get changed or addressed, but I'm not naive enough to think that it's going to be some black renaissance when he gets elected.

Sharpton and Jesse serve a purpose. Few blacks I know give 2 shits about either one but love how they make white people squirm on the still very real racial issues in the U.S. The funniest thing about the parody to me wasn't the parody itself but the reaction to it. The press is some kind of stupid to have covered it as a shot against Barack.
Besides both blacks and whites thinking Barack is the racial wound healer ( part of what feeds into his messianic image) there are other things that bother me. Notice how he danced when it came to responding to the song. He did the same shit when he didn't cover his heart for the national anthem and has a habit of doing it whenever he's caught on something he doesn't know. What he does react strongly to however are things that directly involve him such as the New Yorker cover and Rev. Wright. Somehow( when politically convenient) he summons righteous indignation when he is related to the topic.Unfortunately such indignation is lacking when it comes to others being attacked( unless it's politically convenient. See: Bernie Mac). His pandering in SC also irritated the shit out of me. Some days I want him to win just to prove the point that people who look like you don't always have your best interests at heart.
