Default Yay for oil not being a reason to attack Iran.

Ok so maybe it is.

Oil price surges to new high near $146 - CNN.com

And here I thought it was my imagination that oil wasn't going up.

A little Ooops-nudge from an asshole and BAM! Not that I disagree, most of us should be riding some kind of bike or mini-vehicle most of the time imo.

Soccer mom's NEED a car with 6 wheels imo. And the fucking Iranians should die to make sure little Timmy is 10 feet behind mommy in the back of her armour plated SUV that does 0.1 mpg.

Seriously though, you guys really think they're going to attack Iran? Isn't the US military stretched far enough already? I know the British military is already stretched beyond it's capacity with Iraq, Afghanistan and all the peace-keeping in Africa etc. The US military must be pretty close too.

Except your boys are not exactly sitting around scratching their butts in those places, they're stretched - constantly in action, under heavy attack in both Iraq and Afghanistan... And from what I understand the reservists are being heavily called-upon in those areas. And I also heard recruitment is really struggling right now (omg I wonder why? And it's the same here, nobody's joining up to go die in the desert).

I don't know if the US is like the UK, with dozens of different operations (peacekeeping mainly) all over the world, or just involved in those places. I would imagine if all the above is correct then now would be a very bad time to pick another fight.

Well theres that and then there is our current administration that could try and initiate the draft and then attack Iran. Although I have no idea how hard that would be for them to do at this point.

Current word is that we won't be attacking Iran, but Israel will. We can't directly assist, but the Israelis have a military that gets funded annually by U.S. aid.

That worked great for Iraq! Oh...wait...

No one is attacking Iran before they have either a clearly demonstrated nuclear ability or their facilities are assured to be destroyed in a single strike. Ahmenijhad is not as powerful as his bluster and the Ayatollahs are more practical than ideological, so there is no urgent threat. Hillary was derided for it but she was dead on when she proposed "obliterating" Iran and they are all but certain that it will be the policy of not only whoever becomes president, but also all allied western nuclear powers.

Back to that Israel thing, I think the map demonstrates why Israel, while nervous, is not so eager to try and pop Iran.
