Back in the glory days of Quake there was a guy that went to our Lan parties that used a track ball. Bar none he was the best sniper we ever had. Running and gunning he was terrible but as a sniper he could hit any moving target.

Trackballs work for some and not for others. I think it's a uniquely personal taste as to what you prefer.
