ok so I don't have a photo of my actual PC in all its dusty glory. but if you can imagine the crappiest PC that can (*just*) run EQ, add some dust to the unused keys on my keyboard and about umm... 16 empty beer bottles? then you have my wonderful computer.

I do, however, have a screenshot of my lovely little friend, Mr. "Dangerous Virus".

so far the solution = download firefox as it only happens on internet explorer, but if anyone knows wtf is going on I would appreciate the advice (unless its to reformat, cbf frankly).

Install and it should run a blue mini screen. It looks like your computer is being hacked by Velizar but not to worry, just run each step in the order given.

yeah, right, its probably something ten times worse.

edit: I'm actually gullible as fuck and used it anyway.. hurray! it *seems* to have worked..

Congratulations on your installation of spyware/malware. Basically Internet explorer was hijacked and would show that message every time you opened it. Funny how if you have anti-virus software it won't find those. Download either Ad-Aware or Spybot Search and Destroy then update whichever one you download and run it. Should take care of most of your problem.

it's easier just to bash the keyboard a few times and hope for the best.

Try getting spyware that disables you from using your Task Manager. Or from going inside your hard drive. Those are the best. Better yet I liked the one that locked my desktop backround and replaced it with a 700 pound chick in a bikini.

Smitfraud got rid of all of those. And of course I run Norton and Spybot regularly.

I'd probably reformat. I'm not a fan of Norton or McAfee. Up until recently I would have recommended AVG hands down and I still use it but they've done some shady stuff lately. But it's free and that's a great price point. ClamWin is another good free anti virus program.

I'm pretty lazy about software but hijackers tend to slow the pc down and my desktop is already getting pretty old 4 years. I don't need any help making it run slower.
