There ought to be a limitation on how long such a thing could stay open.
In my previous career I occasionally had to take a juvie to court and we ended up in Night/Evening Court listening to some high and might Judge who apparently thought he was the second coming of Judge Roy Bean. Dude comes in with a 10 year old DUI and contempt charge for missing the original court date.
Basically he is just some incredibly poor/stupid dude who got clean and sober and was trying to do the right thing. He comes in with his employer who was there to advise him and the Judge asks him why he missed his court date 10 years prior. Realize this case had been archived and they had to pull the records out of an office that hadn't been touched in years. The guy says I don't have a good reason for having missed the court date, I was pretty messed up back then but I'm trying to do right and fix things. Judge tells him it's $500 for the DUI and another $500 for the contempt since he didn't have a good excuse and proceeds to lock the guy up since he can't pay it all at once.
Im hoping you aren't going to go to Clinton, MS for court Miroh. Otherwise you could end up with that lovely Judge.
