It makes her a life long victim.

So basically the people everyone ridicules when they hit their midlife crisis and realize they are going to die alone?

Cal's advice is...well yeah. As much as I hate to admit it, I think I've made every single one of those mistakes some repeatedly.

No one's perfect. One does not need to change one's nature, except to acknowledge that all points of view are valid, and that some behaviors serve to invalidate a person or their feelings. Just avoid those behaviors.

I got issues with #9...

A) Someone HAS to have the last word. Even if you are the bigger person, take responsiblity, and admit you were wrong someone still had the last word.

B) Oh I can have the last word... I may be wrong, and you may get pissed about it, but unless you are willing to fight me harder for it. It's mine.

I'll give you an example...

A friend of mine was discussing healer classes with me last night and corrected me on a statement I made. We went back and forth a little bit about it and I got a little snippy about it (which I *NEVER* do *cough*). Now they took it upon themselves to let me have the last word, and later explained they weren't attacking me. It completely diffused the situation and I apologized for coming off as hostile as I did.

Last word? Totally mine though and I was still wrong.

No body has to have the last word, ever. You can agree to disagree. You can just say "I'm sorry" - even if you're just sorry that the stupid disagreement ever happened in the first place. This is a biggie, really. People need to learn the ability to just walk away.

Rhetorical question: Can anyone think of a recent example there Last-Word-Ism caused an issue to perpetuate much longer than was healthy???

That's kind of the point jackass. In your mad need to have the last word you made an ass out of yourself. The only reason it didn't turn into an all out keyboard breaking fight was cause the other person stopped arguing with you and walked away.

You didn't need the last word. You simply couldn't accept NOT having the last word and NOT being right. This causes a good many arguments that you could have otherwise avoided * bonk *
