Main reason, because they are candidates for the presidential election.

Second reason, although we have come a long way as a country, it is still very new to us to have Black man that could become president. Hell, you saw how much heat Hilary Clinton was getting.

Tried to word that the best I could but I'm tired.

Saw the clip, he didn't know he was on air. I already made the point about hypocrisy. As far as Fox News, I don't know whether Obama has made them scared to touch race or not but they did focus on the most relevant part of the comments-- is Barack talking down to blacks when he advocates black responsibility in almost the same manner that Bill Clinton did?

Edit: And Jackson being an ass about a same race public figure is nowhere near the story of Imus since Imus attacked non-public figures that were not the same group by any measure save citizenship.

I think it's naive to assume he didn't know he was being recorded. He knew he was wearing a mic --in a television recording studio. If he is a Obama supporter it was a pretty smart move.

Like I said, you give Jackson far too much credit. He's a man and men do stupid shit. Besides that though, his history tells me fairly well he really wasn't trying to be recorded saying it and that he was expressing a fleeting thought, a half joke of sorts with a colleague in both race and temperament.

The "N" word is negated by Jackson being black and don't cite the bullshit about double standards because life and all relationships are full of said duplicity. The only news worthy elements were "talking down to blacks", Jackson's hypocrisy on the "N" word and yet more evidence Jackson has reservations about Obama. That does not compare with the differences in race and stature of Imus vs. the basketball team.

There is no real story in sub-group on sub-group statements like that unless they are manufactured. There is no way someone outside the group can comment effectively without sounding like a dick to one group or other. Life is full of bullshit like this even if it's not the "N" word; is a woman calling another woman a cunt really news or is why she called her a cunt the real story?

Fox made the right decision in sticking with the substance behind the comment and not making the comment itself the "real story".
