Re: 14% Approval Rating for congress.
Well, since you're either a Nebraska Fan, or live there, you obviously know about corn, amirite?
Several friends/family in Indiana/Illinois/Iowa who have huge corn fields and grow for little-bitty companies like Kellogg's, Pioneer, Exxon and a few others, have been paid for years now (I called up and checked, and yep, some still are) not to grow as much as they could due to excess stockpiling, soil conservation, etc...
But since I'm sure you're just going to say I'm "A Random guy on the Internetz.." Here:
Should We Pay Farmers Not to Grow Crops?
Be sure to read Section F, and in the 3rd paragraph where it states the DURATION of some of these contracts, and the fact that even if initiated in 1998, they'd still be in effect now or until 2013.... Please also note that some of the sources cited are from 2005, this isn't super-old links I'm giving here.
Now, insofar as Terrorists attacking an oil freighter...
1. Where do you think 90% of all the money in their region comes from?
Oil? Ya fuckin' think?
2. The point of Terrorism is to coerce through terror or forward an idealogical goal. You also have to remember that these "terrorists" go for typically "Soft Targets" in an area where it will cause the most "Terror." The only thing attacking oil is going to do is hurt their own people, shit just look back to Kuwait and the oil fires there... While these people probably do not give a shit what they have to do to make a point, they're going to go after the easier targets, typically religious ones in very very public areas, and they're not going to attack a well-guarded oil refinery or oil freighter where the casualties are going to be minimal and it's only going to hurt their own people.
Sorry if I hurt your delicate sensibilities responding to your ignorance, I usually try to know what I'm talking about before I talk about it, you'll learn that as you grow up.

Re: 14% Approval Rating for congress.
You want to call me ignorant? I could swear you were the smart guy who compared ecoterrorism to blowing up a McDonalds. You're operating from the assumption that all terrorists will usually behave rationally.
Also, I'm pretty sure the global food situation has changed since the 1990's, meaning what year those contracts expire in is irrelevant. I'll deal with the rest later I have to go to work.
LOL @ the ignorant card. Sorry I hurt your feelings by asking you to prove something.

Re: 14% Approval Rating for congress.
So you didn't read what I linked for you, and you didn't read when I said that some of the sources are from 1995, and you didn't read the part I _SPECIFICALLY REFERENCED_ about the contracts being 10-15 years in duration which would make some of them even written in "1995," as you so assininely put it, still valid until 2010.. that means they're still in effect....Hey, if your financial situation changes 3 years from now, but you bought a car on a 5 year contract, can you call up the banks and tell them that you need a reduced interest rate because you're making less money now? You can try, but it's unlikely they'll want to do it without raping you further. So if the contracts are in effect, they're in effect, period - the global situation has fuck all to do with it. Welcome to our Litigious society!
The comparison of blowing up a McDonalds to a terrorist blowing up an oil field/tanker/refinery was a simple comparison of the old addage: "Don't shit where you eat." I guess that was too much for you, as soon as you saw anything vaguely resembling eco-terrorism (which is your word, don't try and quote me later, you started it) you were struck down by ignorant stupidity and couldn't see the forest for the trees.
You might look up the word ignorant later, it's not an insult to call someone ignorant, it just means they don't know....

UH SIR I GUESS YOU CAN'T READ EITHER LOL. You must have glanced over the part where I said I had to go to work and I'd get to the rest of it later. As much as I would love to hover over the refresh button and wait for you to shit out another post, I have a life?
Your 'don't shit where you eat' analogy was not too much for me. It was too stupid for me to believe you would try to apply it here. You're treating terrorists and insurgents as one single, coherent, rational entity, and not a fractured, multi-faceted group of people who are more than capable of 'shitting where they eat' to prove a point based on the whim of a cleric or cell leader. That's an extremely ethnocentric point of view for you to take, but honestly, it doesn't surprise me that much.
Shit where you eat? You mean kind of like suicide bombing a cafe? I mean, I guess you could compare that to an American blowing up a McDonalds, if he felt that was the only way to remove the foreign oppressors. Soft targets? You mean like the U.S.S Cole? Or the multitude of attacks that take place AGAINST US soldiers every day? History has shown that when motivated and desperate enough, a group of people are willing to engage in a scorched earth campaign on their home soil. For someone who tells me "I'll learn when I grow up" you are remarkably naive.
Another bad analogy you go on to make. I don't give a fuck how long the contracts are for. I said, more or less, corn based ethanol may not be our savior right now because of the impending global food shortage (possibly) to which you responded, 'like we're paying people not to grow crops,' as if that was your counter to me saying there was a food shortage on the way. To which I said 'prove it' and you did. To that I said, very well and good, but those contracts don't mean we aren't going to have a food shortage, because at the time they were made things were different, and then you proceeded to make another stupid fucking analogy that totally missed my point.
God, I don't even know why you posted in the first place.
