a congressman must take the oath of office. He need not that that oath ON anything. the use of a bible, or any religious tex, or any text at all, or any THING at all, is ceremonial, and at the discression of the one taking the oath.

I'm not really a government buff like yourself, who are the congressman that decided not to place thier hand on anything and how many terms did they serve after that?
