a congressman must take the oath of office. He need not that that oath ON anything. the use of a bible, or any religious tex, or any text at all, or any THING at all, is ceremonial, and at the discression of the one taking the oath.
Numerous politicians have taken the oath but not on anything at all. The oath must be made, but there is no requirement that it be made ON anything, as I said.
