omg boobies O.O

It was slightly amusing, but hillbillies scare me. =/

The problem is--there's no action.

Maybe that's what I was missing. I was missing the action that a vampire story should include.

Meh, was okay. Still haven't figured out why she reads minds and the black chick can manipulate chains.

You say that like it's a bad thing...

Seriously though. I'm gonna check it out, will see if it's any good. I read the anne rice novels, and always liked vampire stories, but some of them do get lame with the whole erotic/vampire angle.

Lol, it just got to be so outrageous. Usually per novel, there's like one scene. Like one really graphic scene, and that's all. That's how they all started, but it got to be every other scene. I had one of them on audio books, and one actually was the ENTIRE length of a 1 hr cd. And then the next cd following it, was like a 20 minute one.

The early Anita Blake books are also plagued by the worst proofreading known to man. Forget which volume it is, but I noticed times when Anita would be wearing cowboy boots on one page and then talk about her comfy sneakers the next without actually changing them. But the biggest error was when she crashed her car and then a few chapters later was driving it around without getting it fixed.

At least the Southern Vampire series is more polished, but it still suffers from the same overly-special, angsty, adored-by-everyone heroine syndrome. I mean, if this was fan fiction (which I avoid religiously), these characters would be called Mary Sues and laughed at by fanfic purists. Now they're the standard for the occult genre. Makes me want to write my own series with a heroine who isn't an obvious superpowered self-insert.
