It's historical fact that European imperialism has fucked over these countries a lot.

Then again, trying to convince you of something that's a proven fact has already proven to be pretty futile....

Right, because when you claim independence you magically get back everything stolen from you, catch up to your peers and the social ecosystem created by your former overlords magically goes away. Can they do more? yes. But when greater powers are exploiting the situation for their own benefit it's a pretty big bitch to beat. Those countries haven't even existed for 100 years yet, let alone controlled their resources for even 50. I suppose they could always go Cuba though... oh wait... I know! Costa Rica! wait...hmm.. banana republic... uh...Zimbabwe! wait.. damn occupiers still owned everything, country got blackballed when they attempted to fix it. Oh! Iran! wait...damn... Hey Lao, I'm drawing an awful lot of blanks on countries that managed to pull this off successfully without having help and that weren't continuously exploited.

European Imperialism? Funny, I thought America had that problem too, about 130 years ago. I guess we all rolled over and became mindless dumb slaves too, huh?

Nope. we just murdered the natives and exploited several other peoples as part of our manifest destiny. Oh! and the French had nothing to do with it.

The point is that the American Revolutionists fought back. They weren't gonna be Europe's bitch. That's all I'm saying.

And the Indians went down fighting. They didn't become Europe's bitch either....

Nice, blame the victim.

I guess if those Africans hadn't been wearing such short skirts, all teasing and flashing their natural resources at us like that they wouldn't have had the European dick shoved in their ass for a century huh.

No you're right because for the most part North American Indians had agreements with the European powers to keep their lands. That was actually another motivation for the U.S. revolutionaries, access to native lands. George Washington himself was in violation of land use terms at the time of the revolution. America also had the benefit of being a 9 month sea voyage away so Britain didn't see it as worth it to deal with us upstarts. Great Britain also didn't have a systematic campaign of setting one American group at another for the specific purpose of exploitation. If independence is all you are judging then almost all those countries successfully pushed for it however, you cannot have true independence without owning your resources and those countries are no longer a months journey from Europe. Iran found that out the hard way as have many other countries. It's just not as feasible as you believe.

I'm guessing Laodaron was home schooled by Forest Gump.

Slight technological difference between the American colonists and African natives.

Presence of a relatively active nationalist movement was also present long before there were similar movements in Africa.

Combined with new, modern pressures that didn't exist in the 1700's (global economy especially) and what would normally just be a cycle of catching up (Russian modernization) becomes either greatly hindered, or nonexistent.
