I doubt it. Its still a big gamble.

Like driving someone's car while drunk...at least you made it home and didn't wreck their car or kill someone.

Only thing I could think of as an example at the moment..deal.

But that's how you become successful. You have to be willing to take those risks. Nobody becomes rich and powerful playing it safe.

What about being born into wealth? How do you earn that?

That's not even a close comparison.

Agree with Skaer. It'd be pretty bad if they took out a 450K consumer loan and lost the house. Generally people look at what your intentions were, and it seems like these people had good intentions with starting a business.

Construction is an industry that can actually give back to society, by building new homes for others, new schools, libraries, etc. Perhaps this family was making an effort to "Pay it forward" in a sense.

That kind of thinking is what keeps a lot of people poor. Depending on your definition of rich I guess.

LOL you think that being born into wealth should translate into giving MORE to the unwealthy? Oh, its sad that this ideology even exists....

Also, I can always understand taking a risk to get yourself ahead in life. Everyone we know at some point and time has taken some risks....but dropping the half a mil ball when it came from a tv show is ludicrous.

Maybe a bad decision, but if it had worked we'd be reading a different story. I read a little bit of bias in that reporters piece.

Put a fucking car. Save up the money. Not the fucking house that is clearly above your means and paid for by a group of people you don't even know. That's just dumb.

Well, if the car were a Lamborghini that might have worked.

A Civic hatchback isn't gonna get you $450K.

I'm curious what went through these peoples' heads... they got a free house because they weren't competent with their existing one, and then they wanted to start a business? Shit that almost sounds like Congress.
