Yeah well kinda... they have their place to be honest. and anyone who is willing to pay 300-600+ for their phone has every option to avoid this as they don't live by a contract anyhow. So the question then becomes if they do away with contracts/early termination fees they will also do away with "free"/low cost phones.

The issue in this case was Sprint Nextel was/is the last one to jump on the diminishing fee program. All the other major carriers either have it or have one set for launch before the end of the year. Honestly even contracted customers can get out of or get everything they want from a carrier if they are willing to fight a little.

I never minded the contracts for one reason...I never was called by a Telemarketer. But I've had my service for about 5 years now so...shrug.

I had to pay 250 dollars for terminating my cell phone 3 months early. And now I can't get a cell phone with same company again unless I pay 500 dollar deposit on a 1 year contract.

Fuck sprint.

It's been 18 everywhere I've lived but I kept it at 21 plus. Anything younger than that was just too fucking retarded for me.

Only if you live in California. California state judges don't rule on anything but California law.

Honestly though, if you don't want to be stuck with a phone/carrier for 2 years, here's a tip. Don't lock yourself into a 2 year contract.

Oh, and good luck ever finding a cheap phone again.
