It's funny how the oil companies are getting hammered for making a profit, but the government is getting a pass and they make more then the oil companies do from the taxes they impose.

a) Like it’s actually his proposal.
b) Like it’s the only suggestion he’s made
c) Like it’s not more oil in one year than we’d get by offshore drilling in four. But thanks for illustrating how little immediate effect drilling would have on the supply side.
d) Like it’s impossible to do more than one thing to reduce our consumption
e) Like Charlie Crist didn’t say the same thing 5 weeks ago.
f) Like the Governator didn’t say the same thing.

The list goes on and on. But by all means, please continue to parrot Rush & Sean.

Check out the Time article referring to keeping your tires in check. Take it for what its worth, which could be a lot.

And your rebuttals to the several other statements? /em tapfoot

The US already produces 1.9 million barrels a day of it's own oil, (some of which gets exported, oddly enough)

Please, before you go on about how we need to get away from oil, get up off your plastic foam backed plastic chair, grab your plastic beverage container and cram it and your plastic mouse keyboard, monitor, computer case and telephone, in your elastic back end.

I responded to those statements with which I take an opposing viewpoint. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't simply argue for the sake of arguing.

I'm not entirely on board with a windfall profits tax. Personally, I think the idea of "doing something about gas prices" is a farce.

I do think that we need to be realistic about energy. We're running out of oil. You pointing out how much of what is within arms's reach in my office is petroleum based only drives home my point that we need to tackle the issue with a little more sense of urgency. Simply Ddilling for more oil and putting up some nuclear reactors isn't going to cut it.

Oh that will backfire for sure. He vastly underestimates the power of glib editing-- especially when going for a 50 state strat. He'd really better be careful.

He should have followed up with "They are playing their old political games." after he said that. I can also see it backfiring.

But, with McCain offering his wife up for a beauty contest, McCain will have to do some back tracking. Seriously, how on earth could McCain, with a PREPARED speech, offer his wife up to a bunch of drunk and probably stoned bikers, with half naked chicks running around. How the hell culd someone not have known it was a sleazy "beauty competition" as he called it, in a prepared speech none the less. How could they not have investigated this? This should go over well with the ladies. Talk about a real scene to sell his family values with. Real classy candidate you all have there, really classy.

Obama needs some surrogate to hammer McCain on this. I think the sound bites that are coming through in written quotes and audible of cheering fans saying "Fuck Obama" will go over well to mobilize his trashy far right constituency that is still pissed at him for him trying to close the gun show loophole.

You've never heard of things like Bike Week and the All-American debauchery that goes on? His comment was totally in line with the humor of the scene. I'd be shocked if Cindy herself didn't laugh it off, especially with the implication that he still finds his wife attractive!
