Yeah, that's an instance where all the best gear in the world will not overcome bad reaction time and going way to fast for the conditions (dark being one).

Not to be an old fart, but there are never conditions suitable for 100+ MPH on a motorcycle on a public road.

You do not posess the reaction time necessary to contend with traffic, I don't care how good a rider you think you are.

Hmm you just don't seem to get the point of having a bike. No sane normal person with serious regard for their safety gets a bike. Only thrill-seekers and speeding loonies do. The danger is all part of the whole idea of having a bike.

I know there's people who buy a bike and drive it safely and within the speed limits. But really, that's like some new-age christian buying a fuckin amazing stereo system only to use it to play his Cliff Richard CD's.

You have no idea what I've done during the course of my adult life in the name of amusing myself (don't go there Ily).

There is a difference between thrill seeking and being stupid, and I'm sorry, no amount of fun is worth going head-first into the back of a tractor trailer at 100+ on a crotch rocket.

I guarantee his last thought was probabaly not "weeeeeeee". Further, I bet if I gave him the option of giving up his bike forever...fuck, throw in his legs too... for a 2nd chance at self-sustained respiration, he'd jump on it in a fucking second.

I've had mine at 139, but that was once, and only once. I'm not even close to a thrill seeker... But its only a 650r, and not geared or designed for top speeds. I accelerate fast enough to get past any car on the highway I need to and still stay under 80 on the highway. I like riding, that's why I have it. Not to race, not to wheely, not to stoppy, not to stunt at all. Not to go so fast that bugs hitting me tear my flesh. And the guys that got me into riding are fairly similar to me...

getting thrown from a jetski going over 100mph was one of the most painful things ever, I can't imagine being crazy enough to go that fast over asphalt.
