Default Wheel of Time Sell-Out?

I've heard rumors that the Estate of Robert Jordan has sold the film rights to a Wheel of Time Series of Movies to Universal Studios for an undisclosed yet seven-figure-exceeding sum.

Anyone else heard these rumors?

Did not hear anything about this, but I'm not terribly excited about it. I'd rather read all the books first lol. Damn dead old man.

If it's as crappy as the screenplay that was done for eragon, they can go ahead and flush that money down the toilet instead

Who cares. Robert Jordan dragged that series out for 20 years then died having not finished it. I quit reading after book 3 when I realized he was just creating a cash cow storyline.

Well I know the final book is being penned by a close friend of the family. It is due out late 09, or fall 10.

As far as a movie...... Hmmm would take some damn good actor's and such to be even a contender for my money.

Somethings need to stay a book and not put to big screen.

bahh screw wheel of time. its too childish. you should read A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE. a more mature fantasy series that is absolutely amazing. by george r. martin.

I've read them both, Jae, and they are both great series, but a little different. Song of ice and fire is a very good series, and maybe even a little more "mature" in the aspect that it iw not afraid to kill off many main characters, and deals with things a little more harshly in their world, a little more graphic.

What I love most about wheel of time is the sense of history that he brings to it. The sense that 3,000 years ago if this person had taken the left fork in the road instead of the right, the whole world might have been different. It makes for a very detailed world with a great sense of history.

I hope the last wheel of time book will be done well. From what I heard, before Jordan died, he actually spent hours with the author to be, telling him directly the stories wrap up, how it will end, and outlined it all in notes and the sessions were recorded.

A movie? I hope for the best, but expect the worst. Also... how would they possibly fit it all in? Tbh I think it would be best done as a miniseries

If they took 2 years of 48 1 hour episodes a year on TV they might be able to scratch the surface. It took a week-long miniseries to do ONE Stephen King book partial justice. And that one was only 350 pages (in it's original form)

If you've read Eragon and seen the movie, you understand my level of disgust at this project. All of the lord of the rings books together comprised fewer words than the fourth book in the wheel of time.

Oh and let's not even begin to mention the magical Farce that was the Animated Dragonlance Movie.

I read Martin by the way, good stuff.

Any Horror fans need to run out and grab up everything they can find by Richard Laymon btw, right now, go! Imagine a mature Stephen King / Dean Koontz, who's unafraid to get graphic.
