Default Internet Usage Cap from Comcast Cable

I dont think I saw a post about this yet... if i just missed it let me know.. anyways.. what do you guys think about this?

ABC News: Is the End of Unlimited Internet Near?

I'm personally worried about the direction some of these companies are going. It reminds me of how the oil/gas industry is.. monopoly FTL.

The direction is bullshit, but 250 GB a month is still a ridiculous amount.

I would'nt ever come close to the 250gb a month, however, the regulations are bullshit.

we'll see how bad it is.. i'm mostly worried about households with multiple computer users/pc gamers/console gamers.. which is what we have at my place essentially. My friend wasnt happy at all with this because he planned on using netflix for their internet based movie viewing.. now hes going to stick with just the dvd's as it has been.

What basically happens is when you reach your limit your internet performance goes down...that's about it. I did that shit a lot with Hughes net.

Currently 1% of users use >250GB/month on Comcast's network. The problem is, you can't tell how much you use according to them unless you go over. Once you go over once, you can't go over again for 6 months. There is no traffic dedgration, or anything. So if you want to use as much as possible one month go for it, then the next 6 months don't go over and you'll be able to do it again.

Then again, 250GB isn't all that much.

I actually plan on getting DSL from a local provider when I get my new place in the next few months... pretty upset about this.

This is one of a multitude of reasons I have never once felt bad about ditching this fucking company over a year ago. As long as people continue to pay them they'll continue to fuck around...

This shit is way harsher in other parts of the world. I have friends in Australia that have to be careful not to reach their cap by week 3 of any month, and their net is total garbage for the rest of the month if they do hit the cap. All they do with the net is basic stuff and MMO's, so their cap must be pretty low. I don't know how they put up with it.
