I haven't heard anything about that. is there anything recent with it? Like not 2007 at least.

There are a lot of guides out that there that show how to reprogram the EDID if you have issues. But after the reading your links I see this is in regards to HDCP or wtf ever and that's easily fixed by using a HDMI ---> DVI connector.

Nice size and resolution.
The MRT ( maximum response time ) is a bit slow for a PC you want to shoot for around 2ms for a higher end PC. It is best suited for TV use.
1000:1 contrast is ok also.
