Mock this if you want, but here's my serious moment.
A friend of mine from over 10 years ago isn't what she seems. She was born with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. What that means is that she developed almost completely as a girl and identifies as such, but with male genitalia.
To make matters worse, her father is a real douchebag, and not only subjected her to testosterone injections against her will, but he beat her regularly for random reasons. When she told her family about this, they sided with her father, and refused to do anything about it.
Fast forward to her adult years, and she's full of self loathing and depression. She showers with a towel around her waist, because if she looks down and sees her penis, she starts crying. Sometimes, the depression is so great that she resorts to self-mutilation, and it's sometimes all I can do to keep her from committing suicide.
I can't stop her for much longer, and we've agreed the only solution is Sex Reassignment Surgery from
this clinic in Thailand. She turns 22 in June, and wants to have it done by then (and wants to do it in the time between school semesters).
This procedure will cost $15000USD, and total costs including airfare and room and board for about a month after for recovery will be around $20000.
I've taken on a second job to help come up with the money, and she's working as well. I'm almost positive I can have the money by then, but every little bit helps, and donations would be appreciated from whoever you can get to chip in.
I am in no way joking about this, and am not running a scam to get money out of you. Any extra money after the expenses are taken into account will be donated to charity (thinking the National AIDS Fund or something like that). Also, this isn't me we're talking about. I'm all man, and plan to stay that way.
