Default We've come a long way

I'm not posting this to brag or anything, just to reiterate the importance of keeping things appropriate and reasonable here while still having fun and getting our message across.

We started on this site in September 2006, and here we are, in March 2007 already.

For about the first month after we started, this site had trouble showing over 2 dozen people on line at any given time. But then steadily we grew, and we've never stopped.

We will never replace the official EQ2 forums, nor has that ever been the intent. And while it is true that the official forums will spike to over 5k users in conjunction with an official release, I can't help but feeling a little pride that our day-to-day normal usage is starting to equalize some.

See for yourself, I included my computer clock in the pics just to show we are comparing the same times:

It's not that far apart at all for normal usage most regular days now.

So here's all I'm suggesting - and to the first person who says I'm trying to censor anyone, please go stick your head in a toilet -

We can continue to grow like this and attract a diverse, interesting base of users, if we all take it upon ourselves not to scare potential users away. Let's not chase people off the site please. I'll never censor language here, and I'm just again asking for volunteers - if you have the choice between saying "fuck you SoE" in the title of a post and not doing that, could please not do that? For this Site?

Thank you

The EQ2 forums aren't what they used to be, I'm not surprised to see more people coming here.

Their policy is too strict, and doesn't allow you to get your point across, or even have a little fun at that~

The only thread that won't get locked over there is one saying something like "Wow grats you guys are awesome at everquest 2". And like WTF MATE?!

The EQ2 Forums are official company run forums, focused on EQ2 the game, they serve a particular purpose. They should be primarily aimed at information and communication while being kept civil. In order for that to happen there is a need for strict guidelines. Along those lines I believe they are handled very well by Grimwell and his team.

EQ2 Flames on the other hand provides a different (and very useful) service by being a more open and casual forum where opinions and debates can be aired in whatever form they take. There's a place for everything, and EQ2 Flames does a good job of allowing people to be candid about their opinions without it getting completely out of hand.

Congratulations LFG and company for your success on a growing community of very passionate and opinionated people.

Wow. Look at all the white names.

I've all but stopped ever going to Sony's site. That being said:

1.) Are there posts there like some of the ones Anchonix's clarification of items or Dymus' frank post on the rumbler?

2.) Can we get the dev tracker fixed now that the new forums are up?

I think the change of forums may catalyze this sites growth even more. Ever since they got the new format, I can only visit there maybe once a week and its never pleasant. Its hard to find what I'm looking for, and all the interesting developer feedback is right here!

Thank you, and I very much agree. I think Grim is doing a great job, and these two sites are like the yin and the yang. I sometimes even think of the official forums as the Qeynos forums, and this site as the Freeport forums.

I think I'm happiest about the fact that I'm on the side that gets to rage, vent and express myself using primitive street language.

Thanks again to everyone for staying cool and self-policing each other, we maintain and admin this site with just me and Niber now.

Ya, the thing I appreciate the MOST is how cool everyone has been with the devs recently, I think it makes them come back more often when our users are being reasonable toward them.

And I honestly think that some of what devs have posted recently, and especially Archonix, is really good for SoE and EQ2, it is enhancing the public image of what dev's do, and very much increasing player satisfaction.

So thanks again devs.
