Depends on how it impacts others. In general, the gov't can't just force requirements without a damn good reason or they lose in court.

I mean, the problem certainly exists. Not just to government agencies, but to things like the power grid and financial sector. Gotta start somewhere.

Teachers, stock brokers...even my fucking barber requires licensing.

And they all have undue impact on your life. Does a journalist require a special license though? Or a writer? Or even a secretary? Even some categories of repair escape it.

Where does it end people, seriously? Is it too much to ask for these things to be decided on a more local level? Why are people so much into sweeping, nationwide regulations?

I didn't say every occupation requires a license. Yes, there are reasons why plumbers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics, cab drivers etc require licenses, but let's not pretend that it takes a constitutional amendment to make IT professionals get one.

That's all I'm saying.

Hey, at least he's trying to tackle an issue that's seemingly been ignored to date. I'm not an IT guy, so if there's a better way, I'm all ears.
