Scozzafava was unmasked as a fraud, though too late, and it isn't indicative of larger trends. The fuckup could have been avoided if the local Republican Party hadn't tried a repeat of the McCain strategy, which is to be Socialist Lite.

Some players might bot against encounters but it seems like he bots the encounter design!

It's funny how GOP keeps emphasizing pro-life and anti-gay as being the only issues that matter. They're slitting their own throats by being so rigid.
Virginia's election is not all that surprising to me. The Dems fielded a candidate that didn't really appeal to their whacko loony-left base, and I'm guessing that affected the turnout.
Jersey, however, shocks me. Granted, not as much as if a Republican had been elected in Massachusetts or here in Washington State (Massascrewchetts West), but still. I didn't think there were enough Republicans in NJ to affect anything. But in any event, it isn't even that much of a victory.
The New York race, in the final analysis, doesn't mean much either, at least in terms of numbers. Pelosi already has so many mindless drones in lockstep that one less GOP seat isn't going to mean squat. Granted, the 'traditional GOP seat' is gone, and in that sense, it is a loss, but not surprising. The GOP has abandoned The Gipper's core 'Big Tent' philosophy- less government, lower taxes, gun rights, the very real truth that Big Government is the enemy, and more local control is good, everything else is able to be worked on in-house, bring it to the table, let's talk about it.
And until they get back to the Big Tent, races like that will continue to happen.
Yeah but Washington wanted New York City over Yorktown. The victories you want and the victories you get don't always match up.
Even if they didn't win the district, an unknown, uncharismatic, in any other election joke of a candidate, got close enough to make a district Obama carried competitive. I understand the whole Republican forever aspect but considering everything about Hoffman and the mass Obama support behind Owens, that's got to be unsettling. If the republicans had fielded a candidate that didn't inspire revolt in the base, it very likely would have gone GOP for another cycle.
Conservatives didn't want to win NY-23 to giev Obama a black eye, they wanted to give perceived RINO's a black eye.

If Tom Keane or Christine Todd Whitman had never happened, I might've agreed with you. But is it stands, a GOP Governor in Jersey isn't that big of a deal when you take into account who the incumbant was, and just how fucked up of a job he did trying to fix an even more fucked up Jersey economy.

At no point did I ever say or imply otherwise. They got what they wanted, all the other details I threw in there just showed that it wasn't too shabby a showing.

It'll be a bigger deal when the republican governor starts doing a good job.

Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh and others endorsed Hoffman
Hoffman lost once again proving that in the real world those idiots and all of their waarbggle do not speak for the majority of real republicans. All they are is a pair of huge noisemakers.

Odd, if they aren't speaking for the "majority of real republicans" how come those real republicans aren't making it out of primaries?
