162 games = worthless, which is why I hate baseball.

That said if they want the games to be remotely interesting they need a salary cap and revenue sharing like the NFL has so you don't have the Yanks with a $220 million dollar team salary and the Marlins with a $36 million dollar team salary.

Its stupid, and yes under this current system the Yanks should represent the AL in the WS every single year and the fact that they don't is laughable.

Why should they? Price tag on a player in inherent for talent? Or is it inherent for marketability to put asses in the seats? A-Rod has always been one of the highest paid players in the game, and yet this was his first WS win. Why is that? Because he's an attractive baseball player, not necessarily a WS champion.

People confuse salary cap with talent all the time. Huge mistake people. Its just like a movie. You can have ALL the huge stars in it. Its not winning an Oscar, but motherfucker, that shit is fun to watch. (See Ocean's 11)

Anyone who watches baseball will realize for the most part the AL > NL. I hate the Yankees but they were by far the best team this year. But I think their spending spree will bite them in the ass the next year or two, since some of their players are getting older, and they had practically no important injuries this year.

The Yankees have made the playoffs 14 out of 15 years and until they missed them last year they were the only team to make every single playoff since the new system was introduced (1995).

In a sport where only 8 teams make the postseason, only 4 of which are from each league, its easy to see that baseball isn't really competitive.

When teams like the Marlins, Twins, Angels, Devil Rays etc stop fielding competitive teams with relatively low payroll, I'll agree that the sport isn't competitive.

And when other teams stop giving huge contracts to one or two stars, maybe I'll reconsider my view on why the Yankees shouldn't be penalized because they can afford to pay the same salaries to more of them.

I'm not even going to argue the point about payrolls and shit, but i will just point out one fact ... and yes i said FACT.

If you are a capitalist and/or a republican/or a businessman, you should like the Yankees. They bring in the most money at home, draw the biggest crowds, and bring in the most fans on the road, as well as sell the most merchandise. Should they not be able to spend the most money?

I don't like the Yankee's because they compete with "my" team. But, I do appreciate what they can do. They just prove that throwing money at problems doesn't fix everything, and that a team that meshes well can do just as well or better than a team with more single player talent.

Baseball in the NE > any other sport...as well as saint louis and chigago.Baseball is Just as popular as ever imo.

What about the Atlanta Braves from 1991-2005? and since it was befor 1995 thats a harder accomplishment considering there wasnt wild card until 95.And hell to add to that they have never had the highest payroll i believe.

They are gonna be expanding playoff brackets in the near future....that and expantion of instant replay is on the table.

Yep just look at the success of the the Twins ,Cards,A's..........there are teams that are perenial contenders even without a top 10 payroll.Because even with a boatload of cash if you dont have good departments <scouting,player development ect>you arent gonna walk into success.......case in point is Texas,Baltimore the Cubbies to name a few.
