I believe he's single... he prolly has someone "back home" that he wants to show dedication for. Thats the only thing I could think of. Or possibly a family member is ill and he's going to take care of them. Sometimes things like that take precidence.

But I think its something else. What else, I don't know, but its something else.

If it were anything worthy of him leaving, other than because the game is going down the crapper, he would have stated that. If I were in his position I would certainly tell ANYONE that I were going home for a family member, or I was going home for this or that. Him not saying why tells me that he just doesn't want to be with SOE.

Also, the tone of the whole post in general jumps out to me. He's jumping ship before it sinks. All he does is talk up EQ2 and say he's not leaving because it sucks. Yeah right.

Quite possibly he isn't jumping ship. He isn't quitting of his own volition.

Perhaps he was handed the 'resign or we fire you' speech because of his pro wow comments and sideways anti soe ones. It's no different than others really in the same situation.

He doesn't seem discontented with soe really for the most part, but it's very likely that soe is discontented with him. He wouldn't flame them on his departure, because he could potentially be sued due to contract requirements or terms of resignation.

A public relations person who has any comments that don't show how great the game or place he's working for 100% of the time means that some group of people are going to see it and think, oo he's not so happy and things aren't so good. I mean, as Niber said, we've already seen it on our club fu boards. Folks have commented on it. I'm quite sure a lot of other folks have noticed it as well. Wouldn't take a genius to figure that out at SoE and one thing they are good at is finding and noticing any negative commentary. Not that they actually do anything to change it, just that they notice it and deal with the negative person.

Good point. Re-reading what he is saying in this light makes it make a little more sense. I mean... Sony now has an office in Denver. There's no reason why he couldn't continue to do community relations from that office, tho it is going to be primarily a studio for their online trading card division.
