it's so you can enter in whatever ending you desire. My version goes a little like this.....

As soon as Meadow walks into the restaurant she watches in horror as 10 ninjas drop down from the ceiling onto her family. AJ caught a katana right across the face and a super soaker like stream of blood spray down Tony and Carmela. Tony immediately pull out his guns and start blazing with both hands at the ninjas who jump all over Carmela. After sinking their swords into Carmela from all sides, the head ninja finish her off with a swift decapitation. Tony took out 5 or 6 of the ninjas with his guns but he finally ran out of ammo. Desperately, he start throwing chairs and plates at the killer ninjas. The ninjas then pull out their deadly flute and sprayed Tony down with poisoned needles. Tony drop to his knee and yelled out to Weadow, telling her to run away. Weadow ran out of the restaurant as the ninjas now focusing on her. They eventually caught up with her and took her back to their place. They proceed to gang rape her in the butt for 4 days and 4 nights, then they killed her by simultaneously chopping her arms legs and head off. THE END.

I personally liked it. Its one of the more ingenious endings to a show since probably Roseanne series finale. The show ended with everything being ok for Tony, and his family.
