Contest - Design a shirt!
Every design used will earn the designer the shirt of his or her choice from our store at www.cafepress.com/eq2flames.
After we get some designs up, I'll put them up in a poll to see how people like them.
The rules are:
1. All designs must be 10 x 10 inches at 200 DPI. Please use the template attached at the bottom of this post. This is easy to do in Photoshop, not so easy in Paint. The reason is, Paint uses 72 DPI. If you open the template in Paint, it will be approximately 26 inches wide, since it will be opening the template at 72 DPI rather than 200 DPI. But no matter how big the template looks on your screen, it will resize to exactly 10 x 10/200 dpi when it is uploaded to Cafepress. So you CANNOT shrink or resize the template, or lower the DPI to 72. If you do that, the template either won't work, or your design will look like crap on a shirt, and we won't be able to use it. There are many free/shareware graphic apps that might do a better job for you than Paint - but I only know Photoshop and can't help you out with that. The other obvious thing is - after you open the template, you need to delete it so it doesn't appear in your background.
2. After you create your design using the above instructions, you can save a sample in a smaller size and post it below as your entry. I'm very sorry, but the purpose of this contest is to try and get some finished designs, I can't do the work for you based on a quick and dirty idea design, please only post designs that comply with the above instructions.
3. By posting your design, you are granting me and this site an irrevocable, royalty free right to use your design on my Cafepress site. You will not receive any license fees for your contribution, other than the shirt of your choice, which can include your own design if you choose.
4. Designs must not violate any of restrictions of Cafepress, including: - Content that may infringe on the rights of a third party.
- Items that make inappropriate use of Nazi symbols and glamorize the actions of Hitler.
- Use of marks that signify hate towards another group of people.
- Hate and/or racist terms.
- Inappropriate content or nudity that is not artistic in nature.
- Content that exploits images or the likeness of minors.
- Obscene and vulgar comments and offensive remarks that harass, threaten, defame or abuse others such as F*** (Ethnic Group).
- Content that depicts violence, is obscene, abusive, fraudulent or threatening such as an image of a murder victim, morgue shots, promotion of suicide, etc.
- Content that glamorize the use of "hard core" illegal substance and drugs such as a person injecting a vial of a substance in their body.
- Material that is generally offensive or in bad taste, as determined by CafePress.com.
- NO use of names, logos, pictures or other intellectual property of musical groups or musical artists. For example, you cannot make Britney Spears merchandise simply because you run a fan-based Britney Spears website or just because you downloaded her image from an internet website. You also cannot modify the name or other intellectual property of a musical group and avoid infringement, (e.g., using Metalika instead of Metallica).
- NO use of names, logos, pictures, or other intellectual property of sports teams, colleges/universities, clubs, or organizations such as the Los Angeles Lakers, Harvard University, or The Boy Scouts. Again, modifications may not avoid infringement.
- NO photos, logos, caricatures, or other artwork depicting celebrities, such as Michael Jackson or Madonna, or other third parties. Just because you take a photograph of a celebrity does not give you the right to use that photograph on merchandise, even if you digitally manipulate the photograph.
- NO use of trademarks, names, or logos of companies. For example, you cannot use the name of a company such as Nike, a company logo such as the Nike "swoosh" trademark, or brand name such as Coca Cola, or a modified version of a trademark, (e.g., "Just Did It").
- NO pictures or photographs of products (such as toys). Even if you own a product, trademark laws may still prohibit you from selling merchandise that features pictures of it. For example, you cannot take a picture of your Barbie and sell merchandise with that picture.
Please read:
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/hel...nt_policy.aspx
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/help/law.aspx
For more information.
The bottom line is:
-You can't take an image from the Internet and use it in your design, that would be a copywrite violation.
-You can't use someone else's logo in your design, that would be a trademark violation. -Your design must be original, created by you.
-Your design must not be sexually explicit or use offensive racial or religious slurs.
-Your design must not use the terms "SoE" or "EverQuest", because those are trademarked terms and I don't have express permission to use them on items for sale.
-I'm saying it is OK to use images from ingame screenshots that do not violate any of the other rules above - I'll accept the liability for this if for any reason SoE objects to their use on items I'm selling on our Cafepress site. If SoE did object to use of screenshots of ingame images on items sold on our site, I'd remove the items upon their request to avoid being sued, but in my opinion those designs would be fair game and you'll still win this contest if I use them.
Sorry there is so much legal bullshit above, but I need to be clear about what is restricted and involved here.
The template you must use for your design is:
Standard 10x10_front-back.jpg

You used the template correctly, but you see how small your viewable image area is within the template? I mean, you see all the unused white space? It would print like that. Your image is only about 4 inches by 5 within the template.
You want to reduce the amount of white space by increasing the logo and font size, and perhaps centering the print within the template.
You definitely want to try and use as much of the template space as possible, everything out to the edges of the template will print. In other words, what you see on the template above is exactly how it will print.

Re: Contest - Design a shirt!
Oh, final and most important thing: Please save your final entry as a PNG file - PNG prints way way way better than JPG. BMP will come out like crap.
Paint Shop Pro will work nicely to do this, and I think it is still a shareware product with a free trial period you can use. There are hundreds of download sites for shareware and freeware graphic apps on the Internet, do a Google search and you'll see what I mean.
For design tips, please also see:
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/learn/blackshirts for shirts that will work with dark backgrounds, and http://www.cafepress.com/cp/learn/tutorial_psptips for PSP tips.
I save all my designs for both black and white backgrounds - meaning I use black text for white backgrounds, then resave the same design using white text instead and save that for a black background.
It's cool if you only create your designs for a white background, that would be better than doing black background only - if you can only do it one way choose white background.

Ok much better - my suggestion would be spelling "raves" instead of "rabes".
Thanks
