Ok...couple of things:

* I support owning firearms.
* Believe whatever you want about why you have them.
* If the United States was over-thrown by a military coup, the citizenry is not going to stop it. Again, you want an assault rifle, more power to you. It isn't stopping this government from seizing it and you if it really, really wanted.
* Quote the founding fathers as little or much as possible. That was 200 years ago and while the principles remain, the specifics have drastically evolved with technology.
* None of this changes the fact that comparing fighting against rape with fighting against a tyrannical government is ludicrious.

Also, how do you think a coup is going to happen?

I dont. I just acknowledge it is possible. Also, I dont want to own a assault rifle. I have no need for one. But I do think citizen militia groups(ones supported by their communities) should be able to acquire and train with any weaponry they can afford. Funded by the Community or private Domestic sources.

In all honesty a community, unless its crazy town?, wouldn't sponsor a militia of red necks and untrained men. It would make a great outlet for retired military personnel. Could also leave it up to each community as to if they want their young men(maybe woman?) to serve required time in the militias. teenagers could use more discipline.

I would only support those things if it was what the community wanted and regulated on a local level under nothing more then Federal guidelines.

Their is no reason such organizations, independent of the federal goverment should not be allowed to exist.

BTW, did no one have a comment on the articles I linked? of state governors being undermined and slowly losing control of the militias to the Feds?
