The only Rangers goalie that sticks out in my head is Richter, but not sure if he was around in the early 90's or later on. He was an excellent goalie though, when he was in his prime, especially for a guy that was like what...5'2" or something crazy

It will be tough for them IMO. The Patriots lost there Offensive and Defensive couches one year and didn't suffer too much of a setback.

But the Steelers have lost there Headcoach and replaced him with somebody that by all accounts I've seen has a much more hardcore coaching style. If history tells us anything the Steelers will need to go through some growing pains before they succeed.

I like the core of quality players. They have a very strong Defense (signing Palumala <spelling>) to a long term deal was huge IMO.

If Hines Ward can continue to perform and Ben returns back to his Pro Bowl form than I wouldn't be suprised to see them go deep into the playoffs in 2008 - 2009.

Yah that was the name of the guy....I once saw him during an ESPN interview and later got his card...he was very handsome...albeit short...and when he was playing he was very good...wish he was still around /sigh When he was on a roll it was a ton of fun watching him...specially during Ranger/Penguins game. ...and my husband loved Patrick Roy back when he used to play for the Canadiens aka The Colorado Avalanche....btw...is he still the guy who plays for Buffalo? Last I heard his marriage was going down the tubes...

They need to lock up the motorcycle and make sure that Hines doesn't hurt himself in camp. And just for the record, the whole "Steelers did horrible because their coach didn't care" excuse...BULLSHIT. I mean it may have affected their play at times but all it would have taken would have been some responsibility and clear thinking on behalf of the core players and they could have pulled it together at any time. Couple that with the poor decision to play Roethlisberger when he still looked like a skeleton due to almost KILLING HMSELF was the worst decision I have ever seen. I hope the veterans take some responsibility this season and actually do something. I refuse to take another LOSS to the RAIDERS!!

No, Patrick Roy was with Toronto for a bit as well, think he is retired now, unless I missed a trade somewhere. The Roy that plays for Buffalo is a winger and is very good at his job, more of a grinder and does a good job for Buffalo on, I believe their third line. I hope the resign him too, if they can keep guys like him (they already kept Vanek) I think they are going to do ok this season, probably not as good as last season and I don't see them going very far into the playoffs, but they will be back soon enough.

I think Kordell Stewart is free to make a comeback if Big Ben fails

Sorry had to add some Slash reference.

Honestly the more I think about it (Keep in mind I really don't like the Steelers) I wouldn't be suprised at all if they started off playing very badly but just as they did there SB year played there asses off torward the end of the season and made it to the playoffs.

I don't see them getting by my Patriots though.

Wow...just Wow I think they should give Neil O'donnell another shot if you want to talk like that. He could lead us to victory in a heartbeat...

Hey, they made it to the superbowl at least with Neil, Slash on the other hand sucked, was like a gimped version of Michael Vick. My favorite Steeler of the 90's has to be Yancy Thigpen, such a cool name to pronounce. But yeah, just signing Polamalu for 5 years is definitely good for the Steelers, I think they will make the playoffs in a wildcard spot.

As far as Sabres go, they will certainly be worse off than last year, however they have the same starting goalie, they didn't lose any defenders, and their first two draft picks were defenders as well, so good on that side of the ice. Just hope Vanek is up to the task of being the #1 guy, and see if he can get the same numbers w/o having drury/briere/Zubrus to feed him the puck.

But yeah fun discussion, as I was born in Pittsburgh, and have spent most my life in Buffalo.

At least Buffalo managed to hang onto Afinogenov(sp.) he is a fast, skilled, grinding player that is going to help them with rebuilding their offense. The guy is a great burst speed skater which will help them to penetrate the opposing defense and get chances on goal. As long as guys like him stay healthy they will still score goals and do well. However, I do not know that as good as Ryan Miller is, that he is ready to carry this team the whole season.

My other concern for this year in sports is this: I do not know if everyone has this problem when watching a game of their favorite team sport, whether it be hockey, baseball, football, soccer, etc... but in Pittsburgh it is absolutely horrible to listen to the fucking announcers. The announcers for the Penguins and Steelers are constantly stroking the opposing team about how good So-and-So is and how well their offense is doing. The explain that our teams are losing to these guys because their off season consisted of a visit from Mickey Mouse or some random fucking shit that doesn't even pertain to the game! I want to hear Bob Errey (the color-commentator for Penguins on FSNP) rip the other teams a new one when the fuck up or bash their coach when he puts a goon on the ice!! I want fucking enthusiasm for the home team not reasons why they aren't succeeding.../rant off

Anyways, if this happens in other cities too then I'm sorry for you guys as well but this is my biggest beef w/ watching and supporting sports in Pittsburgh, our broadcasters are pussies...
