Briere was / is and always will be over rated. Gratz, you picked up a player in the mold of Yashin who puts up points when he feels like it. Oh hey his 2 most production seasons ever were that of contract years, who would have thought. Biron is not a number 1 goalie, and he proved that in the little time he was Buffalo's starting goalie. Good luck with still an old ass defense, a suspect goalie, and over rated Briere.

Also Vanek was being fed from Roy and Stafford all year, not Drury, Briere, or anyone else.

Drury will be a lose, but he isn't going to be near as effective in NY - unless Jagr gets the hell out of there. The Rangers did make some helluva moves though and I think they will be better this year.

I still love the Sabres but nobody is going to beat the Ducks this coming year....they are scary good.

I made a comment that I think the Flyers are actually going to compete this year. They will not be in the top, but I think that as players like Umberger and a few of their younger prospects develop and mature they will not be the last place team in the NHL anymore. I look for them to actually make a showing a prevent series sweeps like their going 0-8 or 0-7 to the Penguins last season.

I do agree with you that the Ducks are going to be hard to beat. I am attempting to get tickets to the Penguins home opener October 6, in which they play the Ducks just because I want to see how the teams match up before any major injuries.

I just read on the website I linked earlier that the Sabres signed Derek Roy. They got him for 6 years at $4 million per year. I know this is good news to any Sabres fans out there...

Yeah, awesome to hear Roy's staying with Buffalo, the Vanek, Afinagenov, Roy line is amazing. Man, I can't wait for this mid-summer sports drought to pass over.

That is a fucking horrible signing....4 million a year for Derek Roy, are you kidding me.

The NHL is worse now then it was before the lockout.

Well, it does not say that that is the maximum he can earn for all 6 years. And yes I will agree that the Salary Cap system is ruining the NHL. One way it does that is that stars and important players like Roy and probably Vanek are underpaid to free up money for other players and younger players. Or teams like the Rangers spend a ton of money on stars and have nothing extra to get developing players for their Farm System. It needs seriously looked at or redeveloped.

The last thing that I read about this game was that it might not happen. Of course it is weather depending. But I am definitely going to try to get tickets and take a road trip to Buffalo from Pittsbrugh. And Meridian, if you are a serious Sabres fan we are going to be at odds come October...when hopefully the Penguins blow them away all season!!
