Thats only half true!
The underworld is divided many ways.
You have the great pit of Tartarus, which was originally the prison of the old Titan gods, but later became the dungeon of all damned souls.
Then, the land of the dead ruled by the god Hades, which is also called the house or domain of Hades, Hades, Erebus, the Asphodel Fields, Stygia and Acherontia.
Next, we have the Islands of the Blessed or Elysian Islands ruled by Cronus, where the great heroes of myth resided after death
After that is, the Elysian Fields ruled by Rhadamanthys, where the virtuous dead and initiates in the ancient Mysteries were sent to dwell.
Further more! Their are the five rivers of Hades, and they are Acheron (the river of sorrow), Cocytus (lamentation), Phlegethon (fire), Lethe (forgetfulness) and Styx (hate), which forms the boundary between upper and lower worlds. Styx being the most commonly known.
The realm of Hades can be compared to purgatory. It is a 'between' Realm that souls must travel through and be judged in to get to where they are trying to go. In essence this gives Hades power over all the Under world, because he control who can go in and who can get out.
I guess knowing all this shit is one of the reasons I only got a 13 ><
