Client App failure - Trial acct. - might not buy this game now.

Hey guys. I have been playing the trial version extensively. Level 16 in just a few days. (not impressive, I know.) But I am having the same problem some other people are having after the current patch where the Client Application is failing and windows not giving me any info about it.

I did some web research and the only thing that seems to match is:

"go to your "C:\games\EverQuest II\paks" directory
and delete patch.vpk
then run your patcher"

That is impossible when running the trial version cause it isn't a full download. So I have no idea if I can even fix it. I certainly would not buy a game that requires the player to go into files and fix the game for them...as I am no cpu wizard. I want to buy the game...but this is horrible.

Any help?

I don't care if it is IR/RF/BT...

I just need a good set, with great sounding everything, from gaming to music to tv.

Primary use will be gaming.

I only bring this up because I just moved to a new apt, and the lady next door is already btiching about exploding noises @ 2am while I play MW2.

So far the only set that has caught my attention is the astro a40.

Thanks in advance.

Wireless Router Recommendations

Old wireless router broke and I'm looking into getting a new one, so I'm wondering if you guys have any recommendations. Its main use is for general internet browsing, some xbox live gaming, and large file transfers (10gb+ per file). The last is probably what I use it for most, so I'm thinking a 802.11n router may be the way to go. I'm indifferent as to brand, I've used Linksys, D-Link, Netgear, etc. and they all performed pretty similar. Price range\product level seemed to matter more than brand. So anyway, does anyone have any experience with an N router that they really like? Something they don't have to power cycle every week? As far as price, looking for something not too expensive, say, around $100 give or take a little.

System Upgrade

First off, this isn't a question of what I want to upgrade, its more of a question is my computer fit to handle the game at good quality and perform at high standards. Basically i just bought a new video card after experiencing less that desirable frame rates under "high performance" quality. After the upgrade I am still experiencing lag, even though my frame rates have gone from about 20-25 in good areas to over 40. However, frames in bogged down areas like those with lots of NPC's cause my computer to lag for a bit as everything loads. In places like my guild hall that has a lot of stuff going on, my frame rates can sit at about 7-9 frames (really lagged).

My question is if what I am using is not good enough to have 20-30+ frames in high traffic areas or is it more than likely something is just wrong with a good enough product?

Computer specs:

Video Card - Nvidia GTS 250 Galaxy 1GB

Processor- AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core 2.2GHz

Memory - 4x 1GB ddr2

Motherboard (don't know much about them)- here is what i got from my system's site ...

* Motherboard manufacturer's name: ECS MCP61PM-HM
* HP/Compaq name: Nettle3-GL8E
* 2000MT/s (2.0 GT/s)

Hard Drive- Baracuda 7200.10 360 GB

Windows Vista 32-bit

From what I have been able to find, I think this system should be able to run EQ2 on near maximum quality with good frame rates. I am wondering if i have faulty equipment or just some products that are insufficient.

Any information anyone can give me would be appreciated, as I am at a lost as what I should do.

Upgrade - Need Your Input

Hey all... Been on the same gaming rig now for close to 3 years. Contemplating an upgrade but only if I can do it for cheap! Seriously cheap and of course the specs will need to be better for EQ2 than what I have now. I am looking to spend a MAX of $500 dollars. All I am looking for is the case and everything inside. I DO want 4GB of memory (or more) and I could probably get by without an OS and I do have a copy of Vista Business laying around as well as Win 7 Premium (but both are 32bit =\ )

Current Setup:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5200+ @ 2.73GHz
4GB OCZ Plat. Rev. 2
320GB Seagate Baracuda 7200RPM
ASUS 8800GTX
Lian-Li PC-60B Case with Window
Thermaltake Truepower 750
Creative Soundblase Xtremegamer 7.1
Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe
Zalman ZNPS 9700NT

I do realize Intel is leading the field right now so I am looking for an Intel system. I haven't been keeping up with the latest and greatest so tell what I could get for 500 and would it even be worth it. Thanks

RivaTuner (http://www.guru3d.com/category/rivatuner/)

Dont use it if you can't read. I use it for the low level fan control, since I do not want to edit the bios of the GPU's I run., since they are locked at 30% fan speed. Fairly easy to understand and use after you read the guide. I do not suggest using it to overclock, though I have never used it, but from using other programs... overclocking should never be done through software. It should all be done through fine tuning of the bios settings.

I believe it does work for ATI Catalyst drivers.

When I run the game in full screen mode everything works fine, but when I try to run it in windowed mode the UI flashes like crazy. I have tried to run the default UI, Profit and Fetish but no difference what UI I use.

My rig is as follows :

3.2 quad i965 extreme
Rampage II extreme mb
1k Corsair ps
12g 1600 triple ram
Asus 295 gtx card
win7 64 bit pro

I have tried running the game in all the available compatibility modes and have the latest video drivers for the card with no luck.

The computer is working fine...the game doesn't want to play nice.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks
