How much? Yeah, pm me But like Alla said in the notice and Sav and Radar noted, you don't do this for the money. I put 6-12 hours a day in on 'Zam if you count time in game *actively* data collecting, and I do not get paid by the hour.

You do it because you LOVE the game, and are possibly OCD or just nucking futz.

But there aren't that many paying fansite positions out there, really. It's very cool to get paid for something you'd probably do for free if they asked nice.


As for dueling blogs, why not? They're hiring several Wiki people, but I know that as long as we do our main jobs we can branch out. For example, I'm a data miner, but they don't object if I write guides and editorials, as long as I'm data mining. Kiara's an editorialist, but when she's between pieces she does data collection and entry.

One last thing - I have absolutely nothing to do with the hiring process. I just made sure the notice got out where quality people who might be interested would see it.


PS - we don't have the same dress code Radar and Sav have.

Grammar can always be improved upon. A great way to get your foot in the door is to volunteer for some of the smaller community sites. I did quite a bit of general writing at first, then a couple of pieces for Casters Realm before getting lucky with Ten Ton Hammer.

The sites that pay treat it like any other job, you gotta have references and resume!

And in that light, I should mention that I'll happily entertain hosting guest (non-staff) editorials, provided they are respectful and use something resembling Modern American English grammar, structure and spelling (ie: no worse than Coyote!).

(edit: should I define respectful? I don't mean fanboi, lol. It's more the tone of the presentation than the content.)

Sav never did want to join in on naked thursdays which left Coyote and I in a verrrry awkward situation.

I honestly can't speak for other networks. I know we try and pay most of our staff because a) it's a motivation and b) it's a way to hold people accountable. I've brought on board a few volunteers and if you have already submitted work to a network you are applying with, that is a huge plus in your favor. Our bosses will take our recommendations to hire someone over picking someone themselves almost any day.

Sav is absolutely right, if grammar were THAT important I'd have been let go a long time ago. It's about understanding the community as a whole and being able to pinpoint what they want to see.
