Default Rise of Kunark Interview with Scott Hartsman

*cross posted from the official forums*

It's October! Do you all know what that means? Rise of Kunark is JUST around the corner!!

I am totally in the expansion spirit, and was very excited and honored to get in a Q&A with Senior Producer Scott "Gallenite" Hartsman regarding the amazing new zones of Kunark. He shared with us a wealth of information that you all will not want to miss.

Along with that, Senior Game Designer Tony "Vhalen" Garcia gave us a small tid-bit of lore for a handful of the newest zones to go with some great concept art and screenshots. The artwork is truly breathtaking.

Please visit Ten Ton Hammer to read the interview, check out the lore, and get a gander at those screenshots!

Many thanks to Scott and Tony for your time, we all appreciate it!

Savanja: Even though we know that raid content is not a major focus of this expansion, can we get a break down of how many raid zones and how many challenging group zones will be included with RoK? Can the 1% of 1% hope for some raid content in the future, after the expansion has gone live?

Scott Hartsman: I’ve been misquoted a few times here, so thanks for presenting an excellent opportunity to clear it up:

The “1% of 1%” comment that I made at Fan Faire was in addressing a specific question regarding contested raid content -- The content that only an exceptionally small segment of the EQII audience ever gets to experience (Usually one guild per server). It wasn’t addressing all of raiding, and it definitely wasn’t addressing difficult grouping at all.
Finally an interviewer I respect. Good work! I hope you do all the interviews in the future:D

Is it just me, or did they just dodge the question instead of answering it when it came to raiding?

An interesting question... does the saturation of Lavastorm with heroic mobs work against it or in its favor?

If you're a noob trying to get to the Sol's Eye portal, I'd say against it!

Good interview. I just hope they don't go overboard with the amount of overland heroic content. It gets old running through heroic instances and contested instances with no quest content. I hate contested dungeons personally and I'd rather be killing heroics in an overland zone. Or better yet raiding. It really depends what they do with the quest lines I guess. I hope to see some fairly long ones that involve overland zones. They really butchered the hell out of Nektulos to the point I don't think theres any left, same with Commonlands.

LS and EF yeah, they should be toned down in heroic content, it's definitely on the hurting side. But not to the exent of CL and Nek.
