Hello everyone,

I'd like to introduce a new web site to the community, LivePvP. LivePvP is a video streaming network like YouTube, but its dedicated solely to MMORPGs, including EverQuest 2.

The site was developed when the Lineage 2 community (which is actually quite similar to the EQ2 one) had very limited options for all their pvp videos. Pretty much YouTube (and other clones) and FileFront. YouTube doesn't allow downloading, and their stream can make seeing details in video games footage very difficult. You can compare the stream quality on the ROK trailer here and here. On the other hand people constantly found the FileFront would delete videos after a few weeks, allowing for no real collections to form.

LivePvP has an infrastructure much more alligned to MMORPG footage, with categories and search functions specifically designed with the games in mind, and rating systems for video makers to get feedback. I could go on but I'm sure everyone gets it.

The EverQuest 2 section is located here. We've begun to build our library with the official videos and mirrored many of the user created videos we've found throughout the EQ2 community. However many videos are hosted only on YouTube so we can't download them, and mirror them. Please take a look, and upload any videos you might have to share with the community :).

Did warcraftmovies allow you guys to upload their stuff to your site? I know there was a recent major dispute between Ace and Wowui over that kind of thing and it would be a shame to have issues with probably the only place I could watch better than YT or Filefront streaming EQ2 videos (I can't even distinguish spellbuttons some of the time). Also curious if you plan to feature any really good movies to put it up at maybe the quality of stream Stage6 has?

Also, what limitation do you have on the rating to prevent trolling videos to the top or bottom where they wouldn't actually belong? That pisses me off the most on warcraftmovies.

All the stuff uploaded is primarily by users, so most of it falls under the fair use policies when it comes to content. We're working on the stream and are kind of waiting for the x264 codec to get a lot better, Stage6 is great but its not much better than our current stream and we're pretty sure that Flash is working on a codec which will stream HD and blow divX out of the water and want to wait for that.

As for ratings we have a staff that keeps their eyes on any videos rated highly, combined with all ratings can be disagreed or agreed with, and after a certain threshold of disagrees the rating gets its weighting reduced, until it doesn't count. Abuse is still possible but we always end up noticing it because people really need to spam a lot of comments and a lot of disagrees/agrees to fake a rating.
