Re: The SOE Summit
I was thinking there were going to be details about the actual content of the summit.

Re: The SOE Summit
There was.
It also clearly stated that they did not address the problems with the game.
Which is a very unfortunate thing.

They had to sign a NDA about the summit. There are a lot of details they can't share.

Like Kiara said, you read the content of the summit. I left out mundane details like our discussion of fansite resources, or providing html/php FAQS for people wanting to start sites. What you read is basically what happened. Cal might go into a little more detail because she may have taken different notes.

Re: The SOE Summit
My write up (coming soon, I've been busy as heck since I got back), will look very much the same. I did get some questions answered for the users here, but since cocktail parties are not the best place to get quotable dev answers, I'm waiting to hear back to make sure I didn't screw anything up. I despise mis-information.
The "actual content" was about communications, community relations, and similar topics. So we can't tell you "Bob from EQRiot asked about this pesky in-game issue and Brenlo said..." because we did not talk about game issues at the Summit meetings. We got to meet Develelopers at the social functions. (I personally had lunch Saturday during our SoE complex tour with two coders, who's names I'm embarassed to say completely evade me now - I was too busy licking barbecue sauce off my fingers to turn my recorder on.).
I can say that Smed evades questions by buying tequilla shots...
Okay, enough My general write up will end up on my personal blog.

Re: The SOE Summit
I <3 Coyote - of course, in a manly, non-homosexual way! - while I wasn't able to attend, I very much agree with what he wrote here:
Quote:
…and then they invited the OTHER half which was comprised of the well known “Haters” and “Angry Players”. People who have been banned, perma-banned, run flames sites, or have trashed loudly every move SOE has ever made, for good or bad. These people were the well known “Negative” people who post angrily, or in ways that give them notoriety on the boards in a not-so-fanboy light.
And I APPLAUD this.
Why? Because honestly, the “haters” are some of the most passionate people out there. They are usually highly intelligent people who don’t “hate” the game, but actually love it to the point that “mild annoyances” to us, send them into a near psychotic rage. These are the most dedicated and loyal players to ever log in - they are just SO overcome with passion and love for the game that they forget themselves and post in a non-productive or seemingly negative ways.
|
Because I'm definitely one of those people.
The references to Kendricke in Coyote's non-blog are just . . . fricken classic lol.

Re: The SOE Summit
Lets have a summit to discuss better communication and then put everyone under an NDA so that there is no communication about what happened. /boggle

Actually, I'm reasonably certain that Brenlo said the actual Summit meetings were not under the NDA, but I'm only 5 hours into my DVR recordings.
Radar and Coyote ARE reporting what happened. (I haven't checked WarCry and I haven't written mine yet.) You're not going to get much more detail unless I transcribe my the entire contents of my DVR.
