Enduring Being Evil
Many people would admit life is a little more difficult on the wrong side of the tracks. I took a look at some of the inherent setbacks suffered as someone from Freeport.

Sword of Destiny, Raincaller, Dwarven Ringmail tunic, etc all require you to enter Kelethin and sneak around if you are under level 70. Even at 70 there are a few guards who will chase you to the end of the earth if you aggro them. Why such hate for those of us who would throw Fae from the platforms if we could? Another great example is in Lower Faydark where the Fae Court will kill any evil race that gets too close (as my friend who auto followed me in there found out).

Re: Enduring Being Evil
Radar, great article, thanks for writing on that topic, it is a huge pet peeve of mine.
One of the worst (and my view most unfair) situations involving the HQs involves the two Ghoulbane HQs - the old one, and the new EoF one that starts in Loping Planes (IGEKhazam doesnt even list it yet).
North Qeynos was changed to add a level 70 epic x4 guard that travels the path from the gate to the zone up to within agro range of the quest npc (Toranim Skyblade, at the Temple of Life) that is near the flying saucer.
At level 70, you can invis into the zone and the epic x4 guard wont see through your invis, unless you have a pet up. But, to complete the original release version of the Ghoulbane HQ still, low level players (it is a level 30 quest) have to go speak to that same NPC what, 4 times?
Why on Earth would they intentionally add an epic x4 guard whose sole purpose appears to be seeking and killing people who want to do the Ghoulbane quest? Wasnt it hard enough before that, and why dont Qeynos players have seperate but equal obstacles?

Re: Enduring Being Evil
That epic in NQ is pretty easy to dodge. Get a target on him as soon as you leave the sewer, and then follow his path. Agro radii are stupidly small in EQ2 compared to EQ1 and EQOA, so you can get pretty close to him to duck into that area where the NPC is (and no guards actually follow that path to the NPC).
I agree that it's unfair that we have to do that, but that can be remedied by putting an epic in the bar in EFP for the Stein of Moggok HQ.
I also disagree with the mapping concerns in the article. I have two words for you: Qeynos Harbor. Those canals make a location 10 feet away take half a mile of running around to get to.

The epic x4 guard put in at the time of EoF in fact walks down into the Temple of Life area and continues to path until he stops approximately 5 feet from Toranim Skyblade.
There is only one possible reason that guard was put in to path like that - and that was to kill Freeport players attempting to do the two Ghoulbane HQs.
I often think the designer at SoE who did this sits around during the day slapping his knee and saying "lol dawg, he just got ANOTHER!".

even more so back in the day you couldnt even fight back against the guards all they had to do was spot you and you had to start that long trip back

Re: Enduring Being Evil
good article, it's all the little annoying things that built up, till this day i still hate the fact that the run from tsdocks to qeynos is less than half the run from nekdocks to freeport

And ALL of them saw invis, even the level 15's in the home districts would spot a level 70 player. Their agro radius was also substantially larger than an actual mob, so you had to take ass backwards routes to get anywhere.
