Adding more content was never a mistake. Invalidating old content at the rate they do... is.

nope we have had lots of content that was added in with no lvl cap that went ok

we are either looking at a global gear nerf at every level, a complete reworking of the combat system, or a level increase. the diminishing returns system i think is stupid but at teh same time was introduced in the middle of a tier making the current gear at the time hit that return, then they added EoF which added no room for growth so they made a bunch of pretty overpowered effects. what do you do at this point? make evenmore overpowered effects? stretching the curve out over a new 10 levels will fix that and then adjust new gear accordingly.

oh yeah 1 and 2/3 years in a tier is real fast paced do you realize we still have another 6months before any of this will materialize?

The point is eventually, no matter what they do, the people at the bleeding edge will have everything they want and be capped with little to no vertical progression available to them. Its been like that since release.

The difference is one way of dealing with it limits content to miniscule amounts every nine months and the other way doesn't.

However, if people are fine with having 3 raid zones so they can get 250 more intelligence - while everything else is gray - gratz.

its already limited.

heres the deal, no matter the expansion, level increase or not, the stuff that brings people to the new raid zones is the gear. the gear is made to be substantially better than the old gear thus making the old gear obsolete. this deters people from doing those old zone despite the level increase.

another solution, which would be a great idea which i am fully behind, is making all raid instances level lock for the tier they were intended. that would give it a full throwback raid opportunity. but then again most people wont do it for the same reason as stated above, thats with or w/o the lvl cap.

and btw the only content you would be losing is t6, t7 wont be gray and a tier increase is sometimes the only way most people will ever even be able to experience some of that content b/c of their subpar playing ability.

Can someone tell me, if they decided not to increase level cap, how I would progress? I'm too high on the curve for stats.. All they could possibly add at this point, is perhaps a few more unique procs on items (maybe), and a higher damage weapon.

That sounds boring, fuck that.

The same way people progressed in EQ1 when they added content without upp'ing the level cap.

You're going to be bored four or five months after RoK comes out anyway, lvl 80 or not.

I should say, especially with level 80, since it will greatly reduce the amount of raid content available to you.

no gaige they cant make it the same as eq1, the whole system is completely different. shit i wish it was like eq1 but it just isnt. in eq1 they put out bigger rats that would hit just alittle bit harder then you could get gear that defended you just a little bit more but it doesnt work like that here

But:

You aren't stretching the curve, you're applying it to the new tier at exactly the same scale. You're going to have problems on top of that though because current gear is already powerful enough to bump the starting point of the next tier's gear. The curve is too tiny. Shit just needs to get nerfed and this time the devs need to learn some self-restraint.

Sorry, but keeping around freethinkers/clockwork/dt/hos/lyceum/EH/inner sanctum is not my idea of "interesting" raid content in 6 months.

I already can't stand these zones, why the fuck would it be a benefit to raid them in 6 months?

Sorry, but I'd be content to throw these expired zones down the drain for just a few hours a week of true, new, interesting shit to do. Not to mention, raiding old zones is not a decent example of how i can progress if they don't increase level cap, which is what I asked about.
