Well, the non-instance content is there and worth doing, but the distance between levels is shorter, so you can feel like you got something done with less time. That's not a bad thing by any means, but paired with the fact that more and more people are finding their way into MMO's that don't belong there, and you have serious grouping issues.
EDIT: Let me amend that. It's worth doing, but not in the scope of EQ1 and EQOA, where you could just grind out mobs and talk, and you didn't have to run around like a gimp. Instaspawns were godly, and need to make a comeback.
